Acadiana Gastroenterology Associates, LLC (AGA) is a specialty specific medical practice that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal care.  AGA is comprised of eight physicians that are Board Certified in their respective field of Gastroenterology, including Stephen M. Person, M.D., J. Patrick Herrington, M.D., James C. Bienvenu, M.D., Richard K. Broussard, M.D., Erick A. Salvatierra, M.D., Patrick A. Laperouse, M.D., Christopher P. Herrington, M.D., and Melanie M. Bienvenu, M.D.  The Physicians of AGA have been providing the utmost quality of gastrointestinal care to patients for over 30 years in the Acadiana area. Our physicians treat patients in their clinic as well as their outpatient ambulatory surgery center, Acadiana Endoscopy Center, Inc., and select local hospitals.

Acadiana Endoscopy Center, Inc. is a state of the art outpatient ambulatory surgical center, specifically designed and designated for gastrointestinal procedures. Acadiana Endoscopy Center, Inc., is licensed by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and is a Medicare approved facility. Focusing exclusively on outpatient endoscopy services, our facility is able to provide a cost effective alternative, providing high quality, gastrointestinal care when compared to multi-specialty facilities or hospitals. Our facility utilizes some of the most technologically advanced – high definition – endoscopic equipment available. This affords our Gastroenterologists the ability to better detect, evaluate, and treat digestive problems and diseases. Procedures performed at our Facility include Diagnostic Colonoscopy, Screening Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Esophageal Dilatation and Upper GI Endoscopy (EGD).

Certified Medical Assistant (Physician Desk Nurse)

Duties:

  • Works as Physician’s nurse
  • Telephone patient triage
  • Works closely with designated physician in clinic setting
  • Scheduling, Insurance Verification, Pre-certification for Radiology testing
  • General miscellaneous clinic duties
  • Occasional patient triage

Qualifications:

  • Strives for total patient satisfaction
  • Has a positive, professional work ethic and appearance
  • Able to work well with others as a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Current Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Physician clinic experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills / Electronic Medical Record experience

Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm (1 hour lunch) & 8:00am – 1:00pm Friday

 

Medical Call Specialist

Job Description

  • Specialist will update information in the database based upon the content of the phone call
  • Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments
  • Call to remind patients of upcoming appointments and track missed appointments
  • Answer multiple telephones and accurately document messages
  • Forward telephone calls appropriately and follow up on return calls
  • File medical records
  • Maintain deceased patient files and track obituaries
  • Attention to detail is vitally important in this job

Job Requirements

  • Pleasant and friendly telephone voice
  • Must possess general clerical skills
  • Basic computer knowledge/technological skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language well.
  • Remain pleasant and friendly throughout the conversation, maintaining professionalism and respect even under difficult situations
  • Able to enter information quickly and accurately in database while listening carefully to the patient
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to complete a high volume of calls and able to multitask
  • Adapt to change, meeting the changing demands of the work environment
  • Work well independently as well as with a team and be self motivated
  • Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
  • Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations
  • Works well with all and is a team player

Education Level: High School Diploma or equivalent

Hours : Monday – Thursday 8:00-5:00pm, with one hour lunch break, Friday, 8:00 – 1:00pm

Acadiana Endoscopy Center Careers

Registered Nurse (PRN – As needed only)

Duties:

  • Patient recovery
  • Monitoring & charting patient vitals
  • Calling patients with pathology reports
  • Scheduling follow up procedures, labs, etc.                                                                                                                                             

Qualifications:

  • Current RN Louisiana license
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree preferred
  • BLS certified
  • Must be able to work in fast pace environment
  • Proficient computer skills / Electronic Medical Record experience
  • Works well with all and is a team player
  • Strives for total patient satisfaction
  • Has a positive, professional work ethic
  • Excellent attention to detail

Hours: Monday -Friday 7:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M
